  • 1. Choose "Restore from iCloud Backup".
  • 2. Enter your Apple ID to login. Tap the blue Next button to continue.
  • 3. Agree to the terms and conditions of service by tapping the blue Agree button on the bottom left. Then confirm agreement.
  • 4. Choose your backup. You'll see your Latest iPhone/iPod/iPad Backup listed. This is usually the one you want to choose. You'll also see older backups and backups of your other iOS devices on the same iCloud account.
These done, your iPhone will reboot, all your previous settings will be back in place.
Cons: You have to make sure you have good Wi-Fi and your iPhone is plugged into the charger when you restore from iCloud. iCloud helps you restore data when you delete data using Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings. For losing data in other situations, iCloud may not help. Plus, iCloud only allows 5G free space for backup; you will have to pay for extra space.

3. Restore iPhone 4S from Backup with iTune Data Recovery
